5 Common Bathroom Waterproofing Failures in Pakistani Villas
### The Silent Problem Behind Luxury Bathrooms

Water seepage into lower-floor ceilings is one of the most frustrating defects in residential construction. Even the most expensive imported marble or Italian tile cannot stop water if the underlying membrane fails.

Here are the 5 main causes of waterproofing failure in Pakistani homes:

1. **Relying on Tile Grout as Waterproofing** Standard tile grout is cementitious and porous. Over time, warm soap water dissolves grout joints, allowing moisture to collect beneath the tiles.

2. **Skipping Wall-Floor Junction Reinforcement** Buildings naturally settle and expand. Without flexible elastomeric joint tape embedded at 90-degree wall-floor corners, rigid mortar cracks.

3. **No Flood Ponding Test** Tiling over waterproofing without plugging drains and filling the shower tray with 50mm of water for 24 hours is a gamble.

4. **Incompatible Primers Over Smooth Concrete** Applying membrane directly over dusty or polished concrete leads to delamination.

5. **Improper Drain Flange Sealing** Linear shower channels must be bonded with polyurethane sealant around the drain collar.

### Our Wet Room Guarantee

Every ArchéTile wet room installation includes a 2-coat elastomeric membrane application, elastomeric corner tape, and a mandatory signed 24-hour flood ponding certificate before tile laying commences.
