Why does large-format tile installation require specialized contractors?
Large-format porcelain slabs are rigid and unyielding. Even a 1mm substrate bump will create air pockets or snap the slab under tension. Standard tile layers lack the suction frames, rail cutters, and polymer adhesives necessary for safe installation.
Which tile fixing chemical do you use for 2×4 and 4×8 tiles?
A polymer-modified tile adhesive of C2 grade or better — what people in Pakistan often call tile bond or tile fixing chemical — never site-mixed cement. It bonds to the non-porous back of porcelain, spreads thin and even, and stays slightly flexible so a large tile can move with the floor through summer without cracking or lifting. It is combed on the floor and buttered on the tile back.
Can large-format porcelain slabs be installed over existing sub-floors?
Yes, provided the existing substrate is structurally sound, crack-free, cleaned of bond breakers, and primed with an acrylic bonding agent after sub-floor levelling.
